Since January 2014 I have my own business that works with contractors to make the design and the drawings for different purposes such as a building permit. The work consists of making AutoCAD drawings of the existing situation and adding the intended design. Most of the buildings have monumental status thus additional regulation can be applied. Often there are no existing drawings so I’ve to start from scratch by measuring the building and drawing it on site.

The other part of the work is advising on climatological aspects of the building and the construction details. This also includes minor calculations by hand.

For me, another important aspect of this job is the contact with the clients. My clients are the contractors but often I advise and discuss the ideas with the owners of the property too. This encourages me to stay very critical towards the designs of the contractors and see where I can apply the knowledge gained during my study.
