The project consisted of a four week period for analysis of which two were done on site in Hanoi and four weeks to elaborate a part of the design. The first part was done in collaboration with four students from the architecture and civil engineering university in Hanoi. Sustainability should be a key element for the proposal. We decided to work on a sky train that was being constructed through the city and proposed a new design for one of the stations.
The site we chose was a busy roundabout where all sorts of transportation means could intersect. The station was put on top of all roads and would act as a pedestrian bridge to cross the large intersection. At the same location a bus stop should be made connecting the highroad, sky train and bottom level. connecting the different public transportation means will create a network making it more accessible. The collection and distribution of the rainwater and the shape of the roof increased natural ventilation.
For the elaboration part of the project I chose to design the roof structure of the Hub. Two steel truss structures would hold a membrane. The trusses were a result the two forces working on the structure and the stability was achieved in the base.
